Hogar Ruth's Needs
Fundraising Goal: $476,094
Hogar Ruth Mortgage
Description of Item: Given that the shelter is a non-profit organization, the government refuses to help alleviate the $300,000 mortgage payment for the house used to shelter each victim. Currently the monthly payments for the shelter reach an all-time high of $2,700 per month because the shelter recently expanded its services to the subsistence of each family, refugees, and the disabled. Before both hurricanes hit the island, the shelter directors held annual events that successfully raised money to pay off the monthly payments of the mortgage. Unfortunately, after the hurricanes, those fundraising events have been suspended because the buildings are dilapidated.
